Overview

The Continuous Improvement Production Manager is a role within Operations aimed to transform operational performance by implementing Operational Excellence tools. This individual collaborates with departments, vendors, OEMs and consultants to maximize value while eliminating waste. The Continuous Improvement Production Manager fosters a “Safety First, Quality Always” culture.
Operations’ Leaders interact directly with frontline personnel, which may include union members, and may, or may not, manage a team of direct reports depending on scope of assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drive focused business transformation through dedicated change teams or Kaizen events.
• Provide coaching to shop floor employees, supervisors, and operational support teams.
• Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, reducing overall operating costs and improving Quality.
• Assist with training of operations and maintenance personnel as needed.
• Mentor less experienced team members to foster a Lean Culture.
• Partner directly with Operations Director and OpEx senior leadership to align Key Performance Indicators and deployment of Operational Excellence tools that align with Lean Principles.
• Ensure department goals align with site strategic objectives.
• Support client and regulatory agency audits.

• Must have a thorough understanding of cGMP and GDP requirements.
• Must be able to think critically and exercise sound judgment.
• Must be able to navigate company quality and/or enterprise systems as needed to perform assigned tasks.
• Must be able to read and interpret metrics and generate reports.
• Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Must work independently and be flexible to changing priorities.
• Must have excellent teamwork, communication, influencing, and organizational skills. Must be resourceful, self-reliant, self-motivated, and confident.
• Must have the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Must be able to manage projects and facilitate tasks.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years experience in Life Sciences or a related industry
• Excellent Leadership and Coaching Skills
• Experience with Lean or Operational Excellence Transformation
• Excellent tech writing and problem solving skills
• BS in Life Science or Engineering Preferred
