Overview

The Continuous Improvement Operational Excellence Engineer II will be responsible to utilize lean tools to drive for business excellence and cost reductions initiatives through process simplification and the overall business transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing principles and six sigma tools to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency, costs, and quality.
  • Educate stakeholders at front line and supervisory levels with the tools and principles of Operational Excellence including, but not limited to Waste Identification, 6S, Structured Problem Solving, Tiered Communications, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, OPEX Leadership, and Maintenance Excellence
  • Analyze and identify opportunities for improvement in process / area performance data (e.g., bottleneck analysis, level loading, process mapping, one-piece flow)
  • Define, implement, and refine continuous improvement initiatives as an internal coach and champion of change agent
  • Communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders to foster a sense of collaborative culture with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Function as a coordinator and facilitator for OPEX projects
  • Apply Lean principles and experience to support plant initiatives
  • Develop detailed OPEX project plans for multidisciplinary teams in targeted areas across several support functions groups
  • Support OPEX events / general problem solving (including but not limited to Kaizen events, value stream mapping, operator and supervisor coaching, training, tier system rollouts and Gemba walks)
  • Provide support and ownership for CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), investigations, and change controls if needed
  • Effectively interact with other groups / functions including Quality, Engineering, EHS, Maintenance, MST, and Validation
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned / required
  • Manage medium and large improvement projects

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field

Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with a minimum three to five years of OPEX experience

Experience with lean concepts and a desire to learn

Excellent communication, verbal, listening, collaboration, and influencing skills

Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
